1. PLEASE OBEY THE 5 M.P.H. SPEED LIMIT IN FALSE CREEK all the way east to the end of False Creek and west under the Burrard Bridge to the other side of the Canadian flag pole at Kitsilano Point. This means no wake.
2. Speed limit strictly enforced by police boats, Coast Guard and video monitors throughout the Creek. AS A RENTER YOU ARE FULLY RESPONSIBLE. And can be fined under the Criminal Code if you disobey.
3. STAY AT LEAST ¼ TO ½ MILE AWAY FROM SHORE AT ALL TIMES to avoid shallow waters, rocks and sand bars. Stay well away from Stanley Park and Spanish Banks, outside of all buoys.
4. WEAR LIFEJACKETS AT ALL TIMES. Make sure boat is equipped with paddles, bumpers, ropes, bailer and whistle on key chain.
5. CHECK THE LEVEL OF YOUR GAS OCCASIONALLY ON LONG TRIPS. If possible, do not run tank dry. If fuel is low, please fill with regular gas only. When engine stalls, change fuel line at tank end and make sure connection is on tight. Squeeze primer bulb on fuel line until firm then vent fuel tank cap by loosening ¼ turn. To restart boat, shift to neutral and lift fast idle lever up all the way. Turn key and hold to start. If problems continue with starting, please recheck connections including fuel clip on the port side of engine.
6. Keep away from sailboats, row boats, windsurfers, beaches, canoes and fishermen. NEVER GO BETWEEN A TUG AND ITS TOW (CABLES MAY BE SUBMERGED).
7. Never cruise fast enough to create a dangerous swell when near small boats or marinas.
8. To start engine, shift control handle to neutral, lift fast idle lever up, turn key over and hold until engine starts. If cold or won’t start, push key in simultaneously but do not hold key in because engine might flood, if so wait five minutes and try again.
9. Always stay in the middle of narrow channels unless otherwise marked.
10. If temperature alarm in control box sounds, turn engine off and check for plastic bag or debris caught around propeller, then restart.
11. Always stop boat and drift through any large areas of floating debris.
12. Remember that you are responsible for all damage up to the $1000.00 deductible if insured.
